In memory of Sakeena Khaadi

Help the court understand Sakeena’s impact.

Sakeena Khaadi was our sister. She was killed at 23 years old, and the person responsible has pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing. Family, friends, and others whose lives she touched may submit a statement so the judge can understand who Sakeena was and the full impact of her death before deciding the sentence.

Why statements are being collected

Victim Impact Statements let people close to Sakeena tell the judge, in their own words, who she was and how her death has affected them emotionally, psychologically, physically, or financially. North Dakota law also allows victims to address restitution and recommend an appropriate sentence.

The family is asking the court for the strongest sentence permitted by law—one that fully reflects the seriousness of Sakeena's death and its lasting harm. A statement cannot guarantee a particular result, but it gives the judge important information to consider.
